Arabic Sign Language

May 10, 2006

Asalaam 'Alaikum:

While doing "research" for my "Allah Made Hands" project I found some resource materials that I think could be helpful to someone or at least interesting.  I originally decided to teach the children American Sign Language or at least just overview it as part of our project – then I came upon something interesting – a resource for Arabic Sign Language.  In case anyone is interested, this is what I have found.

The Arabic Alphabet in Sign Language (Kuwaiti):

Here is the chart (Kuwaiti):

Arabic Numbers (Kuwaiti):

At the index to the site, they also have sign language for verbs, family, school, time, colors, etc.  If you click on the alphabet letter, you can find words that begin with that letter in sign language as well.  You can find it here:

I also found out in my search that supposedly Adam's World has a segment in their video "Born to Learn" that discusses sign language and shows the representation for Allah, Asalaam 'Alaikum, and Rammadan in sign language (but I don't have the video to verify).

Asalaam 'Alaikum,

Sumayyah Umm SAA

Thanks you! I have learned a lot about Arabic Sign Language’s website, because this is part of Middle East. I learned the Arabic Sign language is very different from America sign language.
